37º23N 5º59W Contemporary Seville Architecture  2000-2010

A journey through the city of Seville during the first decade of the 21st century, through 121 works by the most influential national and international architects of contemporaneity.

This exhibition showcases numerous examples of current architecture, from young local architects to those already established such as Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, Cruz y Ortiz, MGM, or Santiago Cirugeda. It also highlights the presence of studios with proven international projection such as Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, Rafael de la Hoz, Nieto y Sobejano, Elías Torres-Martínez Lapeña, Juergen Mayer, Richard Rogers, or Zaha Hadid, among many others. Seville reappears on the scene after a long period of assimilation of architectural and infrastructural manifestations carried out on the occasion of the EXPO’92, through which the city was substantially transformed in its morphology and functioning as a metropolis. The first decade of the 21st century has been a period of paradigmatic projects of great significance and urban changes mainly related to mobility and public space.

Seville has been a prolific stage for architecture over the last decade. This exhibition consists of the digital display of the works collected in the printed guide. Through digital frames, the buildings are described through different images and recordings of the same. These frames are inserted into wooden boxes, generated through digital fabrication, milled and screen-printed with lasers, which are organized forming hexagons until they colonize the exhibition hall in which they are inserted. The digital frames are accompanied by explanatory texts and plans that complete the information for each work.
