El círculo: a “meanwhile” scenography.
Inspired by playgrounds from the 1970s and 1980s, this modular stage design integrates concepts from placemaking, Aldo van Eyck’s theories and his post-war playgrounds in Rotterdam, as well as Pablo Sendra’s infrastructures for disorder and urban gamification. A scenography whose strategic use of color and geometric shapes proposes a highly stimulating “meanwhile” space.
“El Círculo” is a circus performance by Truca Circus company that, under the direction of Ana Donoso Mora, explores universal themes such as friendship and the passage of time, using color and creativity as central elements.
The party continues, but the melody changes with each phase of life. You sought your mom’s attention, ran during recess, shared sweets and afternoons at the park. There were changes we accepted and others we couldn’t handle. Playmates are now sworn friends, when every minute tastes like the first time. A collage of sounds, colors, and textures traverses the passage of time, shaping who we are and what surrounds us, blending our “I” with the “we.” The temptation to chase the white rabbit appears just when time ceases to be infinite and slips through our fingers. The circle tightens and expands, sometimes it flows and sometimes it breaks for no reason. A game, a dance, a karaoke, a sunrise, and many plans. Will I keep them this time?
